MEMBERS of Evesham Town Council provided a cash boost to two popular Vale festivals and approved £3,500 worth of grants.

Councillors voted to award £1,000 to the town’s ever popular AsparaWriting festival at a meeting on Monday evening (April 13).

Meanwhile, a further £2,500 was awarded to the town’s Festival of Music, which takes place in June.

MEMBERS of Evesham Scouts will parade along the High Street in honour of England’s patron saint, St George.

The parade will take place next Sunday (April 26) and will also feature an open air service in Market Square in honour of St George, the patron saint of scouting.

Scouts and volunteers will set off from Evesham Railway Station at 2.30pm and proceed along the High Street to the Market Square.

Organisers hope to keep the disruption to a minimum but a road closure order is in place for the High Street.

Delays are expected between 2.30pm and just after 3pm.

JUST under £500 was raised at a coffee morning held in aid of the Pershore and District Branch of Arthritis Research UK.

The successful event held on Easter Saturday (April 4) at Pershore Town Hall collected £470 in donations for the cause.

President of the branch, Helen Fowler said: “It was a happy occasion and was well received by all.

“We’re delighted by the support and thank you to all those who kindly donated.” she added.
