PERSHORE residents can get their running shoes and fancy dress on for two good causes with a charity fun run in Abbey Park.

Organised by members of Pershore Carnival’s committee, the historic event will take place from 11am on Sunday (December 21).

Last held in May 1983, the event aims to bring some festive cheer in the town and raise cash for the

the carnival’s two chosen charities for the coming year, Pershore Swimming Club and 1st Pershore Scout Group’s hut appeal.




The run costs £2 for individuals or £2.50 to do it as part of a family/group and participants are asked to get to Abbey Park for 10am to register.

A FABULOUS evening of food and swing music to see in the New Year is being offered by The Regal.

The historic Port Street venue is hosting a New Year’s Eve event for the first time in its recent history and will welcome the London Swing Orchestra to town.

A feast of food provided by The Fleece Inn is on offer before music spanning 50 years from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole starts the countdown to midnight.

Established in 1985, the London Swing Orchestra have performed around the world including a night at the Confesshalle, Berlin with Gloria Gaynor and James Last.

RESIDENTS are being invited to enjoy a popular Carols by Candlelight service being held by Throckmorton Chapelry and get into the Christmas spirit.

This year’s event will be held on December 23 at 6.30pm at the 13th century village church which will be lit purely by candles and oil lamps.

As the church is only accessible by fields, people are advised to wear appropriate footwear for walking over grass and to bring a torch for their walk to the church as there is no street lighting.

THE DATES and times that pharmacies are open over the Christmas and new year bank holidays have been announced.

Evesham Pharmacy, High Street, is open from 4pm to 6pm on Christmas Day.

On Boxing Day, Boots on Evesham Retail Park will be available from 8am to 6pm and Boots, Bridge Street will be open between 10am and 4pm.

SHOPPERS who support Pershore popular’s Pride loyalty card were rewarded with a bumper festive giveaway.

December’s prize draw on Monday (December 15) saw ten lucky shoppers each walk away with £25 of Pride vouchers which can be spent at any of the 120 or so participating businesses in the town.

Pershore Chamber of Trade, who set up and run the loyalty card scheme, have thanked everyone for making 2014 such a successful year.

IMAGINE at Evesham’s Market Square will close for Christmas at 4pm tomorrow (Saturday).

It will re-open on Wednesday, January 7 at 10am.
