WARTIME MEMORIES: WARTIME memories of county veterans who served in the Second World War will be relived at the May meeting of Pershore Heritage and History Society at Pershore Library on Thursday

‘We Did Our Bit’ is the title of a film being shown highlighting the courage and dedication of 11 county veterans who served abroad or on the home front and the film’s producer Mike Jackson will talk about how the fim came to be made with the assistance of forces charities.

Everyone welcome but members are asked to note the venue change for this particular meeting which will be held at the meeting room at Pershore Library on Church Street from 7.30pm

BABY BARGAINS: VALE parents and parents-to-be are invited to pick up a bargain at NCT Evesham’s latest nearly new sale.




Baby and toddlers’ clothes, toys and equipment will all be on offer at the popular sale tomorrow at the De Montfort School, Evesham from 10.30am until 12.30pm.

A cafe with homemade cakes and a raffle with prizes including tickets for Cotswold Wildlife Park, Cotswold Farm Park and Fairytale Farm will be on offer while the first 150 visitors will receive a free goody bag.

FESTIVAL PLEA: VOLUNTEERS are being sought by Worcester, Birmingham and Droitwich Canals Society to lend a helping hand at the annual St Richard’s Canal Festival.

The event will be held at Vines Park, in Droitwich, over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, opening from 5pm on May 4 and then from 10am to 11pm from May 5 to 7.

There will be canal boat rides on the ‘Pamela May’, live music from 12pm every day, as well as a wide range of real ale and cider.

Volunteers are needed from May 2 through to May 8 and will be asked to help put everything up and take it down, as well as help sell tickets for the ‘The Great Droitwich Duck Race’ which takes place at 4.30pm on Monday 7.
