AN EVESHAM councillor who was due to stand trial this week on charges of using threatening behaviour towards a fellow council representative has had his court date moved.

John Campbell-Muir, who represents Evesham South on the town council, was due to appear at Worcester Magistrates Court on Monday (April 28).

He will now appear at Kidderminster Magistrates Court on September 26, charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting words and/or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He stands accused of threatening another councillor, Tim Haines with ‘unlawful violence’ during an incident in Oat Street, Evesham on May 20, 2024.

Campbell-Muir remains on unconditional bail ahead of the trial in September.

He has been a serving member of the council for nearly two years, representing South Ward and has lived in the town for nearly 25 years.

At the recent Evesham Town Council annual parishioners’ meeting on April 22, he was singled out for praise by the mayor Councillor Robert Raphael for his efforts in making the town a better place.

Last year, he stood as an Independent candidate for Evesham North in the county council elections.
