New stand up paddleboarding business launches in the Vale

Evesham Editorial 25th Jun, 2017   0

YOUNG people across Evesham and Pershore are being invited to make a splash with the launch of a new Vale business.

Bonkers Activities is the brainchild of Kim Bonk and Alex Mellor who have been running outdoor activities in the Vale since 1993.

Working closely with Wychavon District Council and Avon Navigation Trust, the plan is to provide positive healthy activities on and around the river.

Stand Up Paddleboarding is the latest watersports activity to take the world by storm.

Alex was one of the first people in the UK to develop this sport and now Bonkers has a wide range of equipment and can arrange sessions.

Lessons, hires and club nights are planned for Pershore Riverside Centre and Evesham Rowing Club.

Alex is also setting up a system of river trips, so families, groups or individuals can explore the river.

“The river is the most beautiful asset we have in the area. It’s like seeing the town and countryside from a whole new perspective,” he said.

Bonkers already works with local schools and scout groups offering multi activity sessions and is now taking bookings for their summer activity days.

Bonkers have several events to launch their activities this year including at the Port Street Fayre next Saturday, July 2.
