A NEW festival will be hoping to cause a splash with all the family when it takes the plunge for the first time in the town.
Pershore’s own River Festival will take place on Saturday, July 18, and it will be designed to be a ‘Family Fun Day’ with the chance to have a go at canoeing and kayaking.
Stand-up PaddleBoards will also be on offer, along with bands playing on a floating stage, stalls, attractions and refreshments.
However the event, which will be held at the Pershore Riverside Youth Centre, won’t be solely based in the water as visitors can try their hand at attractions along the banks of the River Avon and in King George’s field.
For boaters this will follow on from the Evesham festival on July 11.
The day after Pershore’s festival, July 19, will also see a Boat Jumble car boot sale in the youth centre grounds.
Alex Mellor, youth centre development manager, said: “This is set to be a great community event.
“Pershore has beautiful river frontage, from the wetlands, along King George’s field, the youth centre, Angel Hotel and more.
“It is another great example of Pershore community working together and we hope people will come and join in on the day.
“This is perfect timing for the Pershore Riverside Centre as we are launching our new paddlesport centre this summer.”
A meeting for anyone interested in having a stall or helping to make the event a success is being held at Pershore Town Hall next Thursday (January 22) at 7.30pm.
