A BRAND new retro-inspired restaurant and cafe will be opening its doors in the heart of Evesham later this month after a £500,000 transformation.

Loungers, the West Country-based group, will open the latest addition to its chain, the Orto Lounge, in Market Place on Wednesday, May 24 and has created 25 jobs.

The chain is well known for its tapas, burgers and brunch menu.

The firm has spent around £500,000 on transforming the site, the former home of imaGine, into a family-friendly venue, which will feature eclectic artwork, oversized vintage sofas and old school benches, Pop Art-inspired table tops and statement lighting.

Owners of the new restaurant and cafe have paid particular attention to families, with a selection of games and books, colouring pencils and pads to keep the youngsters occupied. There is also a full menu for children, high chairs and baby changing facilities.

A community notice board will also be installed in the Orto Lounge for town residents wanting to publicise events, as well as a book swap area.

Staff at the town’s newest venue will hold regular fund-raising events for local causes.

Mike Roscoe, Loungers’ operations manager, said: “We’re really looking forward to throwing open the doors at Orto Lounge and showing the locals how to lounge in style, we’re in an enviable spot on Market Place – in the heart of bustling Evesham.

“The team at Orto Lounge is also looking forward to becoming part of the community and will support local groups and projects wherever possible,” he added.
