A NEW state-of-the-art neurological care centre for the county was officially opened with a weekend of celebrations.
Inspire Neurocare Worcester is a 43-bed centre which will provide rehabilitation, long-term care, respite and palliative care for people with complex neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and brain and spinal injuries.
Local residents, staff, health and social care colleagues and charities from across Worcestershire were among those to attend the opening on Saturday (March 7).
Michelle Kudhail, Clinical Director for Inspire Neurocare, officially cut the ribbon for the new facility, widely regarded as one of the leading centres of its kind in the UK.
She said: “Worcester should be immensely proud to be home to this leading-edge neurological care centre.
“Not only will Inspire Neurocare be a centre of medical excellence and transformation for the patients who live here it will also be a significant employer for the city.
“I wish the entire team the very best in the coming months and years as they look to improve the quality of life for people who come here for treatment.”
Inspire Neurocare is particularly aimed at younger adults (18 – 65) who want to maintain a high level of independence whilst also receiving the specialist care and support they require.
At least 70 local people will work at Inspire Neurocare Worcester, on Oldbury Road.
Home manager Marc Russell said he was thrilled that the centre was officially open.
He said: “Everyone has worked so hard to get us to this point, but really this is just the beginning.
“We will be providing truly personalised care for people with complex neurological conditions so that they can experience the very best quality of life for them.
“I want to thank everyone for all their support helping us get to this point and we look forward to becoming a truly valued member of our local community.”
