Network Rail planning application could close a road in Crowle for two, month long stints

A PLANNING application submitted by Network Rail could lead to the closure of a road in Crowle for roughly a month on two separate occasions.

The plans – which concern the erection of a temporary site compound for nearby works to regrade a railway embankment – could mean Netherwood Lane, Crowle would close from September 4 to October 6 and from March 1, 2024 until March 28, 2024 for the site to be set up and decommissioned.

The lane would be open as usual in between the set up and decommission dates.

The application, submitted to Wychavon District Council, will be under consultation until Thursday, August 24.

The proposed site compound will operate on Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 5.30pm, on Saturday’s between 11pm and 8am and from Friday’s at 11pm until Monday’s at 5am.

Wychavon District Council’s head of planning services told the Standard that the road closures would likely require separate approval from Worcestershire County Council’s highway’s authority.

A decision date has yet to be set for the outcome of this planning application.
