Net free equipment is goal for Vale schools

SCHOOLS across Evesham are being invited to score free equipment from the Premier League in a scheme supported by town MP Nigel Huddleston.

The Mid Worcestershire MP joined the Premier League in Parliament for an event which focused on projects they fund across English constituencies.

Premier League chiefs were able to show Mr Huddleston how they are already engaged with more than half the first and primary schools in his constituency through their Premier League Primary Stars programme.

The scheme looks to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills by providing free, curriculum-linked teaching resources for girls and boys aged from five to 11-years-old.

Football bosses also encouraged him to spread the word to schools that are not yet engaged with them so that they don’t miss out.

In addition to their work with schools, the Premier League provides funding across England and Wales in partnership with the Football Association and Government and through the Football Foundation.

Across Mid Worcestershire, the league has provided more than £1.1million towards four grass pitches, as well as other facilities at Evesham United and Upton Snodsbury Church of England School.

Sports clubs and schools can find out more about facilities funding streams on the Premier League website.

Speaking after the event, Mr Huddleston said, “The Premier League do some great work in communities across the country and I don’t think people realise quite how much they invest in building facilities and nurturing young talent.

The fact that my rural constituency alone has received more than a million pounds from them is indicative of the scale of the work they do.

“The Premier League’s Primary Stars programme is a particularly positive scheme which gives schools the opportunity to use top of range equipment at no cost.

“I would strongly encourage any school in my constituency that has not yet engaged with this programme to look into doing so,” he added.
