Neonatal unit gifted digital reading tablets

WORCESTERSHIRE Royal’s neonatal unit has been boosted with seven new Kindle Fires thanks to a generous donation from Birmingham-based Triton Telecom.

The new tablets will allow parents to download and read stories to their babies, and for soothing music to be played to comfort premature newborns.

As father to three girls, supporting the Neonatal Unit is close to the heart of Triton Telecom’s director Dean Billington.

Dean has personal experience of having a baby in a neonatal ward and he remains grateful for and humbled by the care and support he and his family received.

“Several of my employees and I are parents, so when the rare opportunity to help such a good cause came along I jumped at it.”

Neonatal staff nurse Melanie Tinson, said: “We are all extremely thankful for any contribution we receive for the Neonatal and Transitional Care Units, big or small. The generous donation of these Kindles is greatly appreciated, and they will be well used by the team, and our families.”

The Neonatal Unit is now asking for donations of Amazon vouchers so they can purchase downloadable books and music files for the devices.

Triton Telecom was founded in Birmingham in 2011 after Dean realised his desire to create a customer-centric telecoms business. They provide a range of phone systems, connectivity, mobile and desktop technology and cabling solutions.
