A POPULAR Vale charity is hoping to hit all the right notes with its latest event at Evesham Arts Centre.

The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust is putting together a musical extravaganza featuring the Avonbank Brass Band, Stour Concert Brass and the Alcester Male Voice Choir.

More than 100 performers will take to the stage for the evening from 7.30pm on Friday, September 15 in a celebration of local musical talent.

The emotional evening will raise funds for the charity and many of those performing remember Tracy for her love of music, especially playing her tenor horn.

Carole Smith from Avonbank Brass Band is now its proud owner of the instrument and will be playing it on the night.

Tracy Sollis was a pupil at Prince Henry’s in 1993 when diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia. Tragically, her brave battle against the disease was lost, following a failed bone marrow transplant in February 1995, aged just 15.

Throughout her illness, Tracy was always determined to help fellow sufferers and the much-loved charity continues in her memory.

Achievements of the charity include the Tracy Sollis Laboratory which was officially opened by HRH The Duchess of Kent in 1996.

The laboratory is situated in the grounds of The Royal Free Hospital, London and is run by The Anthony Nolan Research Institute to carry out pioneering research to improve the lives of all those affected by leukaemia.

Tracy’s mum, Sue, a founder member of The Tracy Sollis Leukaemia Trust said, “It’s a very humbling experience to receive such wonderful support.

“Tracy would be so proud and hugely grateful that her battle was not in vain.

“I am hugely indebted to all concerned with special thanks to Prince Henry’s who have never forgotten Tracy and made this event possible. “

Tickets for the evening are £10 and available online at www.princehenrys.worcs.sch.uk/tracy

Alternatively, tickets can be purchased from the charity’s shop in Library Arcade on the High Street.
