GREEN-FINGERED youngsters at Flyford Flavell First School have enjoyed a host of changes to the school’s huge natural forest school area.
Children of Flyford Pippins Pre-School and the First School alike are now able to enjoy a purpose-built wooden mud kitchen area, kindly designed and constructed by one of the parents.
The kitchen stands across the tree-lined pathway from the old pond area. The pond has now been filled in and converted to a huge mud pit.
Headteacher Rosalind Brotherton said: “The children are so incredibly lucky to have such a beautifully built, almost life-size facility, at which they can enjoy messy role-play.
“We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to Rob Giles, who so generously provided all of the materials and a massive amount of his free time to build the kitchen.
“We’re so lucky at Flyford to have such supportive families within our school community.”
“I am delighted that the children now have the opportunity of limitless outdoor free play, making creations from mud without the restrictions of indoor cleanliness,” she said.
