VALE residents are being urged to get their hands dirty in a bid to clean up the town.
The Big Evesham Spring Clean, organised by former Mayor of Evesham Robert Raphael, will start in the Market Square at 6pm on Thursday, July 17.
The event was typically held each year before the Britain in Bloom competition, but work on the Abbey Bridge has curtailed this years entry.
Coun Raphael said: “Because of the unpredictable state of the Abbey Bridge works this past year we have not entered the Britain in Bloom competition, but felt it would be a shame if the Big Spring Clean didn’t take place too.
“Anybody that wants to turn out please do.
“It’s always a feel good feeling of doing it and then the town looks so much nicer three or four weeks after.”
The areas that will be cleaned include market Square, Vine Street, Evesham church yard, Abbey Park, Bridge Street, Abbey Road, High Street, Oat Street, Swan Lane, Port Street, Waterside and the Workman Gardens.
All ages are welcome, but children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.
There will also be a limited supply of litter pickers and gloves.
