Much-loved Badsey man's photo takes pride of place at the Town Hall

A PHOTO of Evesham’s Market Place taken by a much-loved and missed Badsey man has been unveiled at the Town Hall in his memory.

Richard Phillips, who suddenly passed away in 2015, took the composite photograph of the Market Place in 2004 and featured scenes taken over a time period of about an hour.

The unveiling of Richard’s photo took place last Monday (February 13) by the Mayor of Evesham, Coun Fred Kaler, Richard’s partner Lizzie Noyes and his son Will.

Members of the Town Council, the Badsey Society and Richard’s friends also attended the event to watch the unveiling.

The photo and plaque in Richard’s memory was paid for by the Vale of Evesham Civic Society of which he was a member for many years.

He regularly took part in Civic Society activities and was responsible for the website ‘Evesham Mapped’ which contains masses of information about the town, ranging from listed buildings to post boxes.

Richard also set-up a website celebrating the history of Badsey and was involved in the publishing of books about the village, as well as DVDs on asparagus and plumbs.

Colin Tether, from the Vale of Evesham Civic Society, said: “Richard was a very valued and a much missed member of the community who did a lot to investigate the history of The Vale, Badsey and Evesham in particular.”
