EVESHAM’s MP Nigel Huddleston has spoken of his ‘new challenge’ after he was appointed the new Financial Secretary to the Treasury.
The Mid Worcestershire MP moved from his former trade post in Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s reshuffle.
Mr Huddleston will be working closely with the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt at a pivotal time for the Treasury—just a week before the Autumn Statement.
He succeeds Victoria Atkins MP in the role, as she assumes the position of Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, which was previously held by Steve Barclay MP, who has now moved on to be the new Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs.
Mr Huddleston said: “I was honoured to be appointed Financial Secretary to the Treasury in the government reshuffle.
“In my role as Minister for International Trade, I worked with an excellent team led by the Secretary of State for Business and Trade, Kemi Badenoch MP.
“I am looking forward to this new challenge at the Treasury, working with an equally brilliant team, led by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt MP.”
