MP's Dogs Trust Evesham visit sets tails wagging

EVESHAM’S MP Nigel Huddleston was welcomed to Dogs Trust Evesham Rehoming Centre where he was greeted by a wagging tail reception.

The MP for Mid Worcestershire enjoyed a tour of the rehoming centre, whose re-opening he attended back in 2016, where he was introduced to several canine residents including Brolly the three-year-old Beagle who has now found her forever home.

The team also discussed how the cost-of-living crisis is impacting dog owners, the charity’s dog fostering scheme, and they gave an update on Dog’s Trust’s work to tackle Puppy Smuggling, a campaign the MP has supported for many years.

Following his visit, he said: “I especially enjoyed hearing about their dedicated fostering scheme and the team’s passion for improving the lives of dogs in our area.

“As a long-time supporter of their campaign, I was also greatly interested to hear about recent developments to tackle the cruel puppy smuggling trade. Of course, the highlight of the visit was meeting some of the canine residents who are looking for their forever homes,” Mr Huddleston added.

Chris Slight, manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “He has been a consistent supporter of Dogs Trust, and as our local MP it was great to hear his enthusiasm for our work; in particular our Sponsor a Dog and fostering programmes.

“We look forward to working with him in Parliament and in Evesham as we look to tackle the cruel puppy smuggling trade and improve the welfare of dogs and their families.”

Anyone interested in rehoming or fostering a dog through Dogs Trust can visit for more.
