MP welcomes commuter service return at Worcestershire Parkway

DAME Harriett Baldwin has welcomed confirmation that a popular commuter service will be added back into the train timetable later this year.

The West Worcestershire MP had raised concerns with rail operator Cross Country after receiving complaints about a timetable change which saw the removal of the 7.37am train into the centre of Birmingham.

The company has confirmed that the service, which runs between Bristol and Stansted, will return to the timetable allowing county commuters to board a convenient train into Birmingham.

Dame Harriett said: “I had a deluge of complaints from constituents when the service was withdrawn and I am glad that Cross Country has heard the strength of feeling and reinstated this vital commuter link.

“Worcestershire Parkways station is a vital asset to allow more people to use public transport to get into our major cities and over the years, I have asked the company to offer more services stopping there.

“Timetable changes are often a difficult juggling act, and I am grateful to all the constituents who raised their concerns with me. The high volume of passenger feedback was an important factor in Cross Country’s decision.

“I plan to meet with the senior management at the major train companies to continue to press for more frequent, more reliable services for county rail users, but I am glad we’ve seen a positive response to this issue.”
