A VALE based venture that helps get young people ready for a career by matching them to business mentors has been visited by MP Dame Harriett Baldwin.
Leadership and management consultancy, Milford Research, based in Bredon, connects young people to businesses who mentor them while in education to prepare them for the workplace.
It is led by entrepreneur Rob Milford who plans to broaden the offering to more companies across the county this year.
The West Worcestershire MP said: “One of the most important bits of feedback I hear from employers is how much of a struggle it is to employ young people who are ready for the workplace. This venture is an important part of this preparation process.
“I run a popular work experience programme which gives local people a real-life experience of my role and what is expected of an MP and I’m keen to see more operations like this which help to get people ready for their first proper job.”
Rob Milford added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Dame Harriett to meet the team and share our passion for supporting the next generation in preparing for their new careers.
“We discussed the range of programmes we have designed to help businesses engage with students and young people in our community. We help bust the myth that young people are a burden to business. The opposite is true.
“Our suite of programmes has already impacted positively on students across the UK and helped dozens of businesses have direct inspirational interaction with students.”
