WEST WORCESTERSHIRE MP Dame Harriett Baldwin has welcomed the installation of extra road signage along the A46 between Evesham and Ashchurch.

The MP joined local residents who welcomed the latest measures to improve road safety along a busy stretch of road at Long Carrant Park near to Ashton under Hill, where cars turn in and out of the residential park.

The signage will warn drivers to slow down as they approach the area and the installation is the latest in a series of measures which Dame Harriett has been lobbying for to reduce the amount of speeding drivers in the area.

An additional section of the road at Hinton Cross has a 40 miles per hour speed limit, and the MP said she will continue to work with the local communities to identify other measures which could reduce the risk of serious accidents.

Dame Harriett said: “I met with local residents and Wychavon district councillor Beverley Hardman to hear concerns about the Long Carrant Park junction and I agreed to press their case with National Highways.

“It has taken a lot of behind-the-scenes lobbying to get this project approved but I am relieved to see the signs in place.

“Every time I visit the area with experts, it is clear to us all that the road is very busy and not all cars stick to the speed limits. It can be a scary road for local road users and I welcome every measure which is implemented to cut speeding and improve safety.”
