VOLUNTEERS and staff at Dogs Trust Evesham welcomed Mid Worcestershire MP Nigel Huddleston for a visit to their Wickhamford base.
Mr Huddleston was given a tour of the rehoming centre and met former rescue pup, Terrier cross Sylvester, who was hand-reared by centre manager Chris Slight.
It was his first visit since just after the trust had completed its refurbishment and Mr Huddleston was delighted with the progress made since.
“I really enjoyed catching up with the team at Dogs Trust Evesham again it is fantastic to see the centre in all its glory and chat to the staff who work so tirelessly to ensure that all of the dogs in their care are incredibly well looked after,” he said.
“I am always particularly impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that Dogs Trust staff have for the well-being of their canine residents and the way they go above and beyond to rehome so many unwanted dogs in Worcestershire.”
Mr Slight said: “We were delighted to welcome Nigel back to our rehoming centre to show him the work we do for the dogs in our care.
“Like all of us at Dogs Trust Evesham, it is wonderful Nigel also cares so deeply about animal welfare and it was a fantastic opportunity to catch up on key dog welfare issues that we feel so strongly about, including responsible dog ownership and banning electric shock collars.”
