SPORTS Minister and Evesham’s MP Nigel Huddleston was the guest of honour to mark the official opening of the Fundamental Movement Academy at The Valley.
The 18,000sq ft charitable sporting venue will provide a platform for local children to develop their confidence, core movement skills and resilience.
The centre also hopes to inspire the next generation of Olympic gymnastics by providing elite pathways to the world stage.
Speaking in the week Commonwealth Games organisers launched a mass recruitment drive ahead of this summer’s games including more than 20,000 roles available through contractors and an additional 600 jobs within the Birmingham 2022 organising committee itself
“I would like to thank the Fundamental Movement Academy for creating such a brilliant sporting centre for local children and young people to enjoy and develop, a real asset for the community,” Mr Huddleston said.
“With the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games right around the corner, it is my hope every child will be inspired to take up more physical exercise and benefit from being part of sporting culture and community.
“This fantastic local resource will help facilitate this and build on that inspiration for many years to come,” he added.
