MP faces some probing questions

Rob George 20th Sep, 2019

TEENAGERS in Norton Lenchwick had the opportunity to put questions to their local MP as part of a visit to the Wychavon Youth Bus.

Nigel Huddleston, MP for Mid Worcestershire, paid a visit to the popular bus which provides a mobile drop-in space for young people in rural areas.

The youth project, which is led by Wychavon District Council, is a 57-seater converted coach which offers a range of games, arts, music and sports activities for young people alongside workshops, information and advice.

During the visit, Nigel Huddleston MP talked to the children about his role in parliament and answered questions on such topics as plastic waste, littering and homelessness.

“It was great fun visiting the Youth Bus in Norton Lenchwick to play video games with the local children and then answer their varied questions about my job,” Mr Huddleston said.

“The Youth Bus is a highly accessible learning base for the Wychavon area. It travels all over the county and to some of the remoter villages, bringing fun and learning to people’s doorsteps.”

Rob Mace, Youth Bus Officer at Wychavon said: “It’s great Nigel was able to join us as part of our summer activity programme. He was extremely enthusiastic about our work and took time to get to know the young people on board and learn about things that matter to them.

“Norton Lenchwick is a great example of one of the newer villages we are visiting to help the parish council and local volunteers provide something for young people in the village.

“The Youth Bus is a great space for discussions and interactive sessions and we hope Nigel will join us again.”
