POLICE have named the man who died following a motorbike crash near Honeybourne has been named as HMP Long Lartin officer Ryan James.
The 29-year-old, from Bidford-on-Avon, died after a Honda motorbike and a car – a Nissan Leaf – collided on Sheenhill Road around 7pm.
Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and two MARS BASICS doctors responded.
Ryan was in a critical condition being given CPR by bystanders.
Ambulance staff quickly took over resuscitation efforts but sadly nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead a short time later on scene.
Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle in the moments before, to please get in contact.
Insp Col Robinson from the Operation Policing Unit said: “The family of Ryan have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life on Friday.
“We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything which might assist with enquiries.”
A Prison Service spokesperson said:”We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ryan James.
“We are supporting our colleagues at HMP Long Lartin during this difficult time, and our thoughts remain with all those who knew and worked with him.”
