AN EVESHAM group which provides art related activities in a safe environment for adults with mental health problems and learning difficulties can now offer offer workshops remotely during the coronavirus outbreak.

The Garage Art Group has been boosted with £1,197 donation from the Morrisons Foundation which will enable the charity to install new computer equipment which will allow their groups to socially distance themselves by having the IT terminals at a safe space.

The funding boot will also provid the opportunity for communicating remotely between service users and artists from their homes.

Michael Burnett, fund-raiser of The Garage Art Group said: “This generous grant has enabled one of our tutors, who has been shielding, to deliver virtual art lessons with students.

“It’s also lovely this support has enabled students to use laptops themselves to research art online when needed. We would all like to say a big thank you to the Morrisons Foundation from everyone at Garage Art Group.”

Adrian Horsley, Morrisons Foundation Advisor said: “I’m really pleased that we were able to help such a great local charity. Knowing that our support will make a genuine difference to their activities during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond really does make me proud. Helping local charities is at the heart of what the Foundation is all about and I’m so happy that we have been able to provide this grant.”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives. Since launching over £32million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
