A COUNTY-BASED based social entrepreneur has something to smile about.
Keith Slater, the man behind Community Boost, has just heard that a grant awarded to an organisation based in Kidderminster means that he has now been able to generate more than £1.5million in grant funding for voluntary and community groups.
Although Keith will help groups in most parts of the country he is aware that he has generated just under £1million for community groups in Worcestershire.
“What I am pleased about is that all of this funding has gone to small organisations, to churches or to newly formed voluntary groups to help kick-start their ideas into practice. These are the organisations that more and more people are having to rely on during lockdown and these are the organisations that we need to support as much as we can.”
For City and County Councillor Alan Amos the news that the £1.5 million barrier has been smashed comes as no surprise. “I am delighted that Keith Slater has hit this milestone. It comes as no surprise to me as I am aware that more and more organisations in Worcester are using his expertise to access funding to help their work. I also know that this achievement will only make Keith keener to go on and generate £2million!”
Keith has only one question for any community organisation thinking of approaching him for help with the often dreaded application process. “Can you show me that the work of your organisation improves the quality of life for all those involved? If you can do this then Community Boost will be delighted to try to help you, and please do not think that grant funding is somehow not for your organisation. It almost certainly is.”
