Meet the latest spring orphans at Vale Wildlife Hospital

Lise Evans 2nd Apr, 2026   0

THIS LITTLE mite is one of 11 fox cubs now receiving round the clock care at the Vale Wildlife Hospital at Beckford.

All are being hand fed on a three-hour cycle by their own personal wildlife care assistants.

The furry youngsters will enjoy an extended stay at the hospital until late August/early September when they will be released at special sites across the region.

The vulnerable creatures are the first in an anticipated flurry of newborns needing expert care as the hospital expects to see between 20 and 30 fox cubs and a similar number of badgers.

Last weekend also brought the first ducklings of the year – a sure sign that spring has sprung. One unfortunate creature was found beside a road all alone and the other was abandoned by its mum.

Fortunately the tiny fluff balls are in good hands and settling in nicely according to staff.
