MAYOR of Evesham Coun Sue Amor has flicked the switched on a sparkling competition to mark the countdown to Christmas.
Inspired the sheer amount of houses already decorated for the festive season, Evesham’s first citizen has launched a Christmas Lights Competition.
Those with the best outdoor decorations will be rewarded for their efforts with prizes that support the town’s independent shops.
There are three prizes up for grabs with the winner receiving £100 in vouchers, second prize will receive £80 in vouchers and third prize £40 in vouchers.
Mrs Amor said: “It seems as though lockdown has led to an early trip up the ladder for many people as they string festive lights and decorations around the outside of their homes.
“With 2020 being such a challenging year, walking around Evesham and seeing the effort people have made gives me hope that spirits are lifting.
“It’s great to see children enjoying the lights and decorations. It really is a time to rejoice and reflect on what really matters in the spirit of Christmas,” she added.
