Mayor pays tribute to Pershore centre after hip op

STAFF at Pershore’s rehabilitation centre have been thanked by Mayor of Redditch Coun Roger Bennett for looking after him during his hip operation.

Councillor Bennett was walking his chocolate labrador Bracken in Morton Stanley Park in Redditch when he tripped over the pooch, leaving him out of action for several weeks.

But now with a new hip, Coun Bennett says he feels fantastic and is well on the way to making a full recovery.

“After leaving the Alexandra Hospital I went to a Pershore rehabilitation centre for about five days.

“They had me walking up and down the stairs, getting me to use my legs again.”

The Mayor of Redditch says he’s not on any medication or painkillers, but will have to attend several check-ups over the coming months.

“At first the doctors wondered if, because of my age, the fall was to do with my bones but luckily it wasn’t.”
