Marshall’s donate vehicle for hospice

Rob George 18th Jan, 2018   0

A GENEROUS Evesham transport firm has made a kind-hearted special delivery to a local charity.

Marshall’s Transport Ltd, based in Throckmorton, has donated a wheelchair accessible Volkswagen Caddy to Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The new wheels will help the charity offer children and young people access to more experiences and activities in the local area.

George Simpson, managing director of Marshall’s and his son Brian, commercial director, visited Acorns Hospice based on Bath Road, Worcester to meet staff, volunteers and children and officially hand over the keys to the vehicle.

George, said: “At Marshall’s we are committed to serving the community in whatever way we can and have chosen Acorns as our charity of the year.

“It’s an honour to be able to support a cause we know does so much vital work locally, caring for children and their families across Worcestershire.

“It was a pleasure to meet staff, volunteers and children from the charity and officially hand over the vehicle and we hope families and staff are able to put it to good use over the coming months and years.”

In the past year, Acorns has provided care to over 870 life limited and life threatened children across the West Midlands and more than 1,090 families, including those who are bereaved.

Katreena Barnes, volunteers manager at Acorns, said: “This is an immensely generous donation from Marshall’s Transport, allowing us to broaden the experiences we provide children and young people at Acorns.

“We rely on fund-raising and donations from the community to continue, so a huge thank you to George and Brian for supporting our work and for choosing Acorns as their charity of the year for 2018.”
