Tales of life working the land and the nationwide reach of a long-established Worcestershire industry will come under the spotlight at November’s meeting of Pershore Heritage and History Society.
Market gardening, which shaped the landscape of the fertile Vale of Evesham in the 19th and early 20th Century is the subject of a talk by Nina O’Hare of the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeological Service.
The presentation will also explore the results of a three-year community project Grown in the Vale which was undertaken to record and celebrate this important heritage at Cleeve Prior.
The project restored three of the remaining so-called hovels or sheds, which market gardeners used to store all their equipment.
The talk will take place on Thursday, November 7 at 7pm in the Conference Room, rear of Pershore Library in Priest Lane, Pershore. Admission costs £3 for non-members.
