AN EVESHAM nightclub is bidding to become the best in Worcestershire after being announced as a finalist for a prestigious award.
Marilyn’s Nightclub is on the shortlist in the ‘Best Worcestershire Nightclub’ category at the What’s On Readers’ Awards 2017.
The Bridge Street club, which has been running for the past 33 years, is up against 57 Monkeys in Bromsgrove, The Flag in Worcester, The Velvet Lounge and Tramps Nightclub for the award.
Over the years the club has seen performances and appearances from Mark Wright, Boy George, The Dream Boys, Tom Orchante, Marc Oberon, Coolio, Ian Van Dahl and Toyah Willcox.
The club has also won awards in the past, back in 1987 Marilyn’s was named the best small club in UK.
Speaking to the Observer, owner Gary Benjamin said: “We love to see people enjoy a party, and we invite a lot of artists and musicians to come and have a gig at ours. Marilyn’s Nightclub has been open for 33 years and it’s still going strong.
“We are very proud to be nominated for this award and we would like to thank everyone who has voted for us.
“We have some great nights planned for Evesham so here is looking forward to the next 33 years.”
