A RUNNER will line up in Sunday’s London Marathon to raise funds for Evesham’s Dogs Trust.
Lisa Cannon, who is from Worcester and a fitness instructor at Physique Fitness and Julie Liggins (Studio 2) in Droitwich, was hoping to collect £1,500 for the cause but has already doubled that with sponsorship and a fund-raising evening.
Lisa has £500 in sponsorship and £873.50 a JustGiving page and the charity night last month at Salwarpe Village Hall which featured a live band, hot food and a raffle, was attended by 160 people and raised £1,815.
She told The Observer: “I am running on behalf of the Dogs Trust as our family dog is a rescue and I wanted to support a charity that is solely dependent on donations to stay active.”
And with the race just days away she said the preparations had been going well.
“Training has been good – the longest run has been 16-and-a-half miles.
“The number of classes I teach each week is also in double figures.”
