Man in 80's left trapped in car for 30 minutes following Harvington crash airlifted

A MAN in his 80’s was airlifted to hospital after being left trapped in his car for 30 minutes following a two car crash in Harvington yesterday evening.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Leys Road and Evesham Road just after 5.35pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances, a rapid response paramedic and a paramedic officer to the scene.

A Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham was also called out.




The two vehicle crash resulted in one of the cars ending up in a ditch and lying on the driver’s side.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80’s, was trapped and firefighters had to free him from the vehicle.


Paramedics treated him at the scene for head, face, arm and back injuries. He also suffered from a reduced level of consciousness and was flow to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further treatment.

The passenger in the car, a woman in her 80’s, had been helped out of the vehicle before paramedics had arrived and was lying on the ground.

She was treated for a minor abdominal injury and was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

Nobody else was injured in the crash West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
