A MAN has been arrested following reports of a drone being flown over HMP Long Lartin in the early hours of this morning (July 22).

Officers were called to the South Littleton at around 2.50am where a black Audi was sighted and failed to stop.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later in the Ullington area with a drone inside along with suspected contraband.

Following an extensive search for the occupants, a man in his 20s was located nearby and arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to convey prohibited items into a prison.

Two further occupants have not been found and enquiries are ongoing to locate them while the man remains in custody.

Mobile phones were also recovered from the car which will be examined as part of the investigation.

This latest incident comes after four teenagers from Alcester were arrested on July 11 for a similar offence.

If a member of the public spots a drone near to the prison or has information about suspicious activity near to HMP Long Lartin, they are asked to report it via 999 immediately.
