Making a capital effort to raise vital charity funds

Rob George 20th Feb, 2023   0

A FORMER Evesham High School pupil is getting set to lace up her running shoes to tackle the streets of the capital in this year’s London Marathon.

Chloe Wright is set to run the London Marathon on April 23, raising funds for cancer support charity, Macmillan.

The 28-year-old entered via the charity, which holds a special place in her heart, to give back while taking on a challenge that has been on her bucket list since she was a child.

Taking to her Just Giving fund-raising page, Chloé said: “Coming from young family has meant that I have been lucky enough to know great grandparents, great aunties and uncles and even great-great aunties in my lifetime.

“Sadly, some of those people battled with cancer, with some receiving the help and support of the Macmillan Cancer Support nurses for whom my family are so grateful.”

Chloe was a keen sportsperson throughout her schooling at both Simon De Montfort and Evesham High School competing at both district and county level in cross country and 800metres.

She went on to attend Bournemouth University to study BA (Hons) Public Relations where she achieved a 2:1 and was awarded the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Wessex award for Best Undergraduate Research Paper.

Chloe now works as a communications manager in the beauty industry

Having previously completed Brighton Half Marathon in support of Macmillan, the London Marathon will be her longest race and largest fund-raising project to date, though one she has had her sights set on since her school days.

As part of her charity place, Chloé has pledged to raise £2,500 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A fund-raising evening is being held at Evesham Town Hall on March 11 to support Chloé in reaching this target.

At £20 per ticket, it’s set to be an exciting night starting at 7.30pm with welcome drinks, buffet, raffle and live music from local band, Reflections.

The dress code is smart casual though guests are asked to wear something green in support of Macmillan. Call 07496 770560 for more.
