MAJOR changes to bus services in and around Pershore will be revealed at two informal meetings at the town hall.

New and revised local bus services and routes will be unveiled at the events at 4pm and 7pm on Tuesday.

First Worcester is introducing a package of improvements from Monday, October 16 which will see a number of Saturday services restored and improvements to off peak services in villages such as Fladbury and Eckington.

Representatives from First and the Vale Public Transport Group (VPTG) which has campaigned for almost two years for improvements in local services will be attending the meetings at Pershore Town Hall to introduce the services and answer questions.

And bus operator First has also kindly donated free Wyvern day tickets for the best and most constructive suggestions to improve future services.

Pershore Mayor Coun Bob Gillmor will chair the two informal meetings and representatives from other local bus and rail operators are being invited.

Members of the public will be invited to contribute to the meeting with suggestion boxes provided for views on current and future public transport services.

“These meetings will provide an early opportunity to see what has been achieved working together with First and we would urge local people to use their new services to help ensure their success and build the case for further improvements,” said VPTG chairman Julian Palfrey.

“The earlier afternoon timing will also give many the chance to travel by bus to and from the meeting.”

Nigel Eggleton, Managing Director for First Worcester said: “I am looking forward to hearing the views from local residents about the new services scheduled to start on October 16.

“The new timetables and routes have been developed as a result of a working partnership with Worcestershire County Council and the Vale group and we are looking forward to welcoming new and existing customers on board.”
