HER MAJESTY’S Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire has paid tribute to UK servicemen and women on Armed Forces Day 2021.

Lt Col Patrick Holcroft said: “Today, on Armed Forces Day, we can show our support for the men and women of the Armed Forces and I invite you all to join me in acknowledging and thanking them for all that they do on our behalf.

“Service personnel and specialist equipment from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force are constantly deployed, both at home and overseas in protecting the national interest and in supporting the civil authorities.

“We can help the men and women of the Armed Forces in their important tasks by showing our support not just for our servicemen and women, but also for their families.

“As we gradually emerge from the extraordinary circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic, we continue, quite rightly, to focus our appreciation and gratitude on all those who have led the national response to the pandemic and who continue to protect us.

“We can never say too much in praise of their efforts and it is with great pride that I note the contribution made by the Armed Forces to this national effort.

“Unfortunately, pandemic restrictions mean that events planned for Armed Forces week have been reduced in scope but I urge you all, if you can, to take part in social media events to show our appreciation of our serving sailors, soldiers and airmen and their families, and to our veterans and cadets.”
