Look stylish with a silk scarf – and help hospice

Evesham Editorial 8th Dec, 2022   0

BEAUTIFUL silk scarves reflecting the concepts of peace and hope are now on sale to raise funds for a Worcestershire hospice.

Evesham-based digital textile printing specialist, The Silk Bureau, called on artists earlier this year to design a silk scarf in aid of St Richard’s Hospice in Worcester. The competition was won by designer Amy Gazeley with her intricate snowdrop-themed scarf.

The snowdrop is the emblem of St Richard’s, inspired by the poem The Snowdrop – Consolation by Bishop Keble 1792-1886 and features in the hospice logo. “I am come to calm your fears: I am come to console you in the absence of bright days, and to reassure you of their return.”

The Silk Bureau selected St Richard’s as its chosen charity for 2022 and is printing and finishing the luxury silk scarves free of charge.

Kelly Johns, community and event fund-raising manager, for St Richard’s Hospice, said: “The snowdrop not only holds a special place in our hearts but in the hearts of our supporters.

“We’re sure they will not only love to wear these beautiful scarves but to know that 100 per cent of all funds raised will be supporting a cause which means so much to them.”

Miss Johns added: “We’re so grateful to The Silk Bureau for kindly donating the scarves to help raise funds for patients and families and to Amy for creating the stunning design.” Sharon Reynolds, marketing manager for The Silk Bureau Ltd, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be supporting St Richard’s this year and also to ensure we’re working as sustainably as possible.

“The digital print process can often result in lengths of fabric being wasted, for example ends of rolls that don’t quite fulfil a customer’s full order.

“By printing St Richard’s designs using the lengths of fabric at the end of an order, we’re not only avoiding waste but we’re also supporting the care this wonderful local charity provides.”

The 100 per cent silk scarves, which come in three sizes and two colourways, range from £50 to £60 and can be purchased via the St Richard’s online shop at: https://shop.strichards.org.uk/the-st-richards-scarf/
