NEARLY a fifth of patients with liver disease in the West Midlands say they are ‘very unsatisfied’ with their medical care.
That’s a staggering 18 per cent out of the 2,000 people who were surveyed by charity British Liver Trust.
The survey also revealed that 17 per cent said their condition was dismissed as ‘nothing to worry about’ when they were first seen by a medical professional.
And 29 per cent of people said they were diagnosed late, by which time there were very few treatment options as the disease had progressed.
More than 14,000 people will die from liver disease this year, according to statistics.
It is the third biggest cause of premature mortality and it’s the only major disease increasing year on year.
