AN 80’s POP icon wasn’t Too Shy to turn on The Valley’s Christmas lights as the popular venue continued its countdown to Christmas.

Kajagoogoo’s lead singer Limhahl did the honours on a packed evening of events which included a host of live music for shoppers to enjoy.

The 80s pop star, who rose to fame with hits such as Too Shy and Never Ending Story, also performed for crowds at the retail and leisure destination, which includes local attractions the Evesham Vale Light Railway and The Valley Adventure Castle.

The event was hosted by Touch FM’s morning show presenters Ollie and Si and included other performances from rock group Chasing Deer, singer songwriter Matt Bate and Evesham Stagecoach Performing Arts Group.

Father Christmas was also in attendance for the switch-on which marks the launch of late night shopping for the festive period at The Valley as shops such as Fat Face, Barbour and Julian Charles open until 8pm on selected dates throughout December.

Centre manager Paul James, said: “The Christmas light switch-on is undoubtedly one of our favourite events of the year and marks the start of the busy Christmas period for our retailers and shoppers.

“And with 80s stars, up and coming acts, local radio favourites and of, course, Santa himself all in attendance, this year was the biggest and best yet!”
