Lighting up the night for hospice

HUNDREDS of glowing lanterns helped light up parkland in memory of loved ones at a hospice walk.

The St Richard’s Hospice Lantern Walk took place at the National Trust’s Croome, near Pershore.

Nearly 400 people took part, carrying lanterns through the parkland on a 1.5-mile walk – and helping to raise around £12,000 for the hospice.

Kelly Johns, hospice fund-raiser, said: “This was such a special event – we were quite overwhelmed by the kindness and support from those taking part.

“It was so moving to see people walking in memory of loved ones and taking time to reflect on and celebrate special memories.

“We are delighted to have raised so much for St Richard’s too – the funds will help us to continue caring for patients, loved ones and bereaved people in the future.”

During the walk, guests left written messages and photos remembering their loved ones on a memory board – while Croome’s on-site church was available for those who wished to light a candle in memory of someone special.

There was also music from the VoxRox choir – while stand-up paddle boarders from Bonkers Activities created a light display on the lake.
