Lending considerable support to new fitness venue

WORLD Strongest Man regular Laurence Shahlaei was on hand at the opening of a new fitness venue at Pershore’s Keytec Business Park.

Em-Power Fitness opened its doors with a bang earlier this month as Laurence lent his considerable muscle to the celebrations.

A record-breaker in the sport, Laurence has represented Britain at the iconic contest for more than a decade and has won titles in competitions in England, in Britain and across Europe.

His biggest win was in Europe’s Strongest Man where he defeated Game of Thrones star Hathor Juliius Bjonnson in 2016.

During the day he spoke about his career and took part in demonstrations of all the classic strongman events such as the log press, axle press, farmers walk and yoke carry.

A dozen fitness challenges were laid on during the day to raise money for Dementia UK during the event which also welcomed Mayor of Pershore Coun Chris Parsons and Mayoress Jan Parsons.

Visitors could even have a go a pulling a truck with a little help from Laurence thanks to Whites Haulage Company’s loan of a cab for the day.

Em-Power Fitness is the brainchild of former British Army veteran Lewis Newell who hailed the event as a success.

“The day was fantastic everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot from Laurence and were amazed how strong he was,” the 38-year-old said.
