EMPLOYEES working on a new gas pipe between Honeybourne and Wormington took time out to paint a number of classrooms and communal spaces at St Egwins CE Middle School.

Volunteering Works arranged for a team of staff from National Grid Gas Transmission and Metering to take a break from their work and come to the aid of the Evesham school.

The staff are part of a team working on the Western Gas Network (WGN) project to increase gas capacity by reinforcing the existing network between Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire and Churchover in Warwickshire. The new pipleine is part of the work

Adam Merchant, senior project manager on Western Gas Network project, said: “Given the proximity of our upcoming work in the area, the team were delighted to be able to use our volunteering time in this way.

Sue Thomas, business manager at St Egwin’s CE Middle School, thanked the staff and said: “We take a huge amount of pride in our school environment, so it’s great to see the fabric of the building bright, modern and appealing, therefore creating a positive learning environment for our students. “
