YOUNGSTERS and staff at Harvington CE First and Nursery School are celebrating after the school was labelled ‘outstanding’ by Government inpectors.

The school is particularly pleased that Ofsted recognised ‘leaders and staff make strong provision for pupils’ personal development.

According to the report ‘they help pupils become confident, respectful citizens’ and pupils at the school are ‘happy, kind and considerate’ and they ‘like their teachers and appreciate the support they receive.’

The report also recognises the ’pupils behave extremely well in lessons and at playtimes’ and they ‘show high levels of perseverance in tasks’ and ‘work well together.’

Inspectors recognised ‘leaders are ambitious for pupils and want the best for them’’ and that they ensure an ’inclusive community’ where all pupils, including those with a special educational need are ’included in all aspects of school life’ and ‘they achieve well because they receive good quality support.’

Ofsted recognises ‘leaders and staff make sure pupils develop strong knowledge’ and ‘plan exciting tasks to motivate pupils.’

To improve, inspectors agreed with leaders that a focus on presentation and opportunities to practise and correct mistakes will help improve the quality of work. The school had already implemented plans to make the necessary improvements ensuring that the school remains the very best place for pupils to learn.

Headteacher Helen Fishbourne, said: “We are delighted that the school has maintained our outstanding judgement status following our recent Ofsted inspection and this reflects all the hard work that the children, staff, and governors continue to undertake.

“Our parents are overwhelmingly positive about our school and I am privileged to lead such a tremendous and dedicated team who provide the very best education and experiences. It is an exciting place to be.

Chair of Governors Chris Davies, said: “The Governors are really pleased with this report. Over the last two difficult years the school has done a magnificent job in giving children and their parents a stable and supportive environment in which quality learning has continued.

“High standards have been maintained and this is a well-deserved recognition of the outstanding work done by all of the staff.”
