Leaders praise Phillip's legacy as funeral looms

Evesham Editorial 17th Apr, 2021   0

AS THE NATION prepares for the funeral of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, the first citizens of Evesham and Pershore have paid tribute to Her Majesty’s ‘wonderful consort’.

The Mayor of Evesham Coun Sue Amor said: “The Duke of Edinburgh dedicated his life to service and we join with people from all around the world in paying tribute to him for this and the many other things he did.”

HRH accompanied the Queen to Pershore in 2008 when the town’s Number 8 Community Arts Centre opened its doors.

Mayor of Pershore, Coun Chris Parsons said: “During his long and distinguished life, he has shown wonderful dedication and support to HM the Queen and we are sure this support will be greatly missed by Her Majesty.

“He will also be remembered for the many institutions and organisations that he founded and in which he continued to play an active role until his death.

The Union flag will be flown at half mast from the Town Hall until after His Royal Highness’s funeral
