WORCESTERSHIRE’S Community Dental Team are full of smiles after winning a national prize for launching a new service to safeguard vulnerable patients.
Laura Rollings, Dental Officer for the Worcestershire Community Dental Services, was awarded the first prize in the Dental Surgery category at the Royal College of Surgeons (RCSEd) conference held in Chennai, India.
Laura and her colleagues – Irena Twarowska, Dental Officer, and Sophie Hughes, Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry – ensured their service was in line with national protocol by following up on missed dental appointments with the vulnerable person’s carer, social worker and GPs.
Worcestershire Community Dental Team are run by Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust and provides dental care for children and adults whose treatment needs cannot be met within a general dental practice.
Laura said: “I had the opportunity to present our work at the RCSEd conference.
“I displayed a poster and delivered a talk about the project undertaken.
“I was thrilled to be awarded 1st prize in the Dental Surgery category, and to represent the great work that is carried out within the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust.”
