‘Last Train’ for charity evenings from caring Badsey couple

Evesham Editorial 24th Nov, 2022   0

AFTER a decade of raising thousands of pounds for local charities Elizabeth and Ralph Bolland of Badsey are sadly having to end their Santa Special Charity Evenings.

The three-evening event was first set-up to raise money for the rebuilding of the Scout Hut on the Recreation Ground at Badsey, when that was achieved, other village organisations were chosen to receive the proceeds from the donations given in subsequent years.

The evenings consisted of viewing Ralph’s large garden model railway, plus refreshments and a film show. The original film shown was of Elizabeth receiving her MBE from the now King Charles III at Windsor Castle which was for her long-service with the Girl Guide movement.

In subsequent years films were made for the event by the Dallimore Brothers.

This year will be their ninth film for the Bollands. Will and John Dallimore have evolved their own unique style with these short comedy films featuring the Bollands and the model railway layout.

The final film is appropriately called ‘The Last Train’ and ends with Elizabeth and Ralph leaving for a life in the sun.

The charity chosen this year is the local church at Badsey where Elizabeth is churchwarden, and Rev Ralph has led services.

The two evenings, when you can see Ralph’s train layout, plus a second one in their neighbour’s garden, refreshments are tonight (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday) between 5.30pm and 7.30pm at 17 and 19 Binyon Close, Badsey.
