KIND-hearted staff and customers at a Vale pub have raised more than £1,000 for a charity which supports injured soldiers.

The Gardeners Arms in Evesham recently held a 1940s themed fund-raising day with a karaoke and disco to raise £400 for Help for Heroes.

This is in addition to the £730 that has already been donated by the customers of the Gardeners Arms via the pub’s Help for Heroes collection box.

Ian Baldry, Worcestershire Help for Heroes County Coordinator, said: “We are most grateful to Niki for bringing about this event and the fantastic ongoing support of the customers. 97 per cent of the funding for Help for Heroes is donated via the public.

“The ongoing support of the Gardeners and others is so important to enable Help for Heroes to maintain our services.”
