EVESHAM could be set to get its very own KFC after bosses from the fast food giant submitted plans to open a restaurant in the town.
The fried chicken chain submitted the proposals to Wychavon District Council last Friday which would see a 305 sq metre restaurant with a ‘drive-thru’ built on land north of the Twyford Service Station.
Access to the restaurant would be gained via a new junction from the road used to get to the Premier Inn and Orchard Pub.
A total of 42 parking spaces will be built as part of the proposed development which includes two disabled spaces. A cycle rack for four bicycles would also be provided.
If approved by planning chiefs, it will be built next to the Costa Coffee ‘drive-thru’ which was approved by planners last May, but has not yet been built.
A consultation on the plans will now run until Thursday, August 24 giving residents and key stakeholders the chance to have their say on the proposals.
In a statement to the Observer on Wednesday, A KFC spokesperson said: “We’d love to open a restaurant in the Evesham area for our fans to enjoy.
“It’s early days at the moment, but we are working on a suitable location and hope to have some good news in the future.”
